Mrs Vianna

Meet your teachers

Hello and welcome to Year 1!

We are certain to have a wonderful year together and I’m so excited to get to know you all. Year 1 is such a special time full of fun, learning, and growing—and I feel incredibly lucky to be a part of it with you.

I’ve been teaching at Aston Hall since 2016 and I absoloutley love it! One of my greatest passions is teaching reading and phonics. I’m a huge book lover myself—especially classic fiction— there’s nothing better than curling up with a good story. One of my absolute favourite things is taking the class to our lovely school library, getting cosy, and sharing a book together. It’s such a magical part of the school day.

Outside of the classroom, I like to keep busy! I’m part of a local running club (though I can’t promise I’m very fast!) and I sing in my church choir too, which brings me a lot of joy.

You might have known me previously as Miss Poole—I’m now Mrs Vianna as I got married in July!

Here’s to a fantastic year full of learning, laughter, and lots of lovely stories.

Meet your Teaching Assistants

Miss Bell

Hello, I’m Mrs Bell and I’ve worked at Aston Hall School for just over 10 years now. In my time here, I’ve been an SMSA and help to run Breakfast Club. More recently I have become a Teaching Assistant working across Key Stage 1 – I absolutely love my job! I especially like to help children with their Phonics. I was once a former pupil of Aston Hall and both my children have attended here too.

Mrs Gray

Hi my name is Mrs Gray. I have loved my last 2 years working in
KS1. I am really looking forward to moving into LkS2 and following
the children on their journey through school.

Miss Jarvis

Hello everyone! My name is Miss Jarvis, and I’m so excited to be your teaching assistant this year. I’ve really enjoyed my first year at Aston Hall-It’s been a wonderful place to learn and grow, and I’m thrilled to continue being part of the team. I’m looking forward to getting to know each of you and supporting you in your learning journey. We’ll work together to make this fun, positive and a successful year. A little bit about me- I absolutely love Dachshunds! I have two sausage dogs and I’m always happy to chat about them! I also have a son who attended Aston Hall and has now moved to comprehensive school, so I know just how special this place is from both a parent and staff perspective. I can’t wait to see all the amazing things you’ll achieve this year!

Areas of Learning

In History in September we have the very exciting topic of castles! this is a fantastic topic where we learn all about Conisbrough Castle, and includes an amazing trip to the Castle itself! We will be comparing how we live to life in a castle and thinking about what it was like.

In Geography we will be learning all about the local area we live in and what Aston is like. We will be looking at housing types and whether all houses in Rotherham and Sheffield are the same.

In Art we will be studying Linda Lang, who is a climate activist and artist and will be creating our own learning inspired by her art.

In Science we will be learning all about Humans, looking at how we grow and parts of our bodies, before moving onto looking at animals later in the term.

Class Information

Our PE dates will be sent out as soon as we have confirmed- please keep an eye out for this information.
Please ensure your child’s PE kit is in school every day and that they have suitable PE kit for outdoor PE and colder weather later in the term.

I will be available on the door every morning and children will enter the classroom and begn their morning work. At the end of the day I will dismiss from the same door. Please be patient at first as it can take time to recognise every face at the start of the year.

As part of our learning in the Autumn term, we will be putting on our KS1 Nativity at the end of the term, please keep your eyes peeled for more information later in the term.
We are always looking for volunteers to read with children and support on trips/walks. Please let me know if this is something you can/would like to support with.
