In Year 1 Phonics, pupils have been using whisper phones to support their blending and segmenting skills. These simple tools help children hear their own voices clearly, allowing them to focus on hearing each individual phoneme before blending the sounds together to read a word. They are also useful for segmenting, helping pupils identify all the sounds they can hear in a word.
This week, the children began learning their first Phase 5 sounds and have done a fantastic job applying their new knowledge to their phonics work. Well done, Y1!
