Recently, Y1 have been doing some fantastic work in history lessons, exploring the impact of transport in Victorian Britain.
As part of their topic, the children explored how the invention of trains changed travel and tourism during the Victorian era. They found that train travel made it possible for people to journey further and more affordably, opening up new opportunities for holidays and visits to seaside towns like Scarborough – a perfect link to our current topic!
What really impressed us was how the children made thoughtful and accurate connections between their learning about Victorian trains and the development of seaside holidays. They applied this knowledge in their written work, building on their prior understanding of transport and tourism.
Well done, Year 1!
