We’re so excited to be continuing our long-standing relationship this year with POPs Outdoor Adventure, based at Rawmarsh Victoria Park in Rotherham.
Every Thursday morning, POPs staff join us to work with a different year group each half term, helping to bring the curriculum outdoors. Teachers share their plans for subjects such as Art, Geography, Science, History, Maths, and Design Technology, and Adrian and his team transform these into wonderful, memorable outdoor learning experiences.
At Aston Hall, children in EYFS, Y2, Y4, and Y6 all get the opportunity to take part, spending a morning each week exploring and learning in our fantastic wild area. We’re incredibly lucky to have this space on site, which has been cleared and prepped ready for another year of exciting adventures.
This work also links closely with Wickersley Partnership Trust’s commitment to environmental awareness. By giving children the chance to learn in nature, we’re helping them understand the importance of caring for their environment and the role they can play in protecting it for the future.
Over the past year, we’ve developed our outdoor spaces further with the creation of an allotment and sensory garden, which are both ongoing projects, and we have plans to enhance our wild area even more this academic year, so watch this space!
EYFS are first up with POPs this term, and we can’t wait to see what brilliant experiences they enjoy.
